Dubailand Theme Parks

Does anyone think a huge dubailand style collection of theme parks could be built in the United States? Dubai seems cool but it is far away for Americans to travel, not to mention it's in the middle east. For those of you who don't know what Dubailand is, it's supposed to be the largest collection of themeparks in the world, with a resort that spans like 100 miles. It would be cool to have something like that here, but could it be possible?

Dubailand vs Disneyland? Dubai is undergoing a major project to build Dubailand ( a major theme park), Once Dubailand is completed it will be even bigger than Disneyland. Once it is completed would you rather go to Disneyland which is closer if you live in America, or Dubailland which is further away but will be on a larger scale.

Who is financing and designing all the futuristic places in Dubai? http://stylecrave.com/2008-12-16/the-top-10-architectural-wonders-of-dubai/ Look at the "large archipelago of a scaled map of Earth", the Midgar (Final Fantasy 7) vision of "Business Bay", the insane uber-Disney World "Dubailand", and "The Palm Islands"??? Who is planning and building all of these insanely extravagant resorts, that are all obviously boasting the kind of National affluence Rome once exhibited, and US in it's economic prime? I don't mean to sound rude, but I was hoping for some more specific, analytical answer than "the sheiks"... I mean, how much is the actual Gov't behind these plans? Are there any huge multinational or regional corporations behind this? Are there any connections to any "American" corporations mixed in to finances of these future structures? Dick Cheney bought a property on "The Palm Islands" there for retirement, and many many upper class Americans are following suit... So I'm curious of which multinational corporations are behind it... or is it a totally Gov't based thing, funded from oil profits.
